The Cannington Lions Club presents Canada Day in MacLeod Park as a community project and not a fundraiser.  The Club puts the event on every year for the community and therefore we would like to hear from you on how we did and how we could improve.  Please complete the below survey and give us your "two cents worth".

Thank You

Did You Know?

To put on Canada Day in Cannington there are over 700 volunteer manhours that go into the planning, setup, event, and clean up each year.  It is thanks to these many volunteers that the event takes place.

The Cannington Canada Day Festival and Classic and Custom Car & Truck Show is not a fundraiser for The Cannington Lions Club.  It is a community event put on for the people of our area to come together and celebrate our Nation's birthday.  Although The Lions Club strives to break even any surplus is put into the following year's event or to cover prior year's deficits.

If we get good weather (and good weather forecasts) there can be over 200 cars and trucks in MacLeod Park as part of the Classic and Custom Car & Truck Show.  Attendees to the show come from as far away as North Bay and Hamilton Ontario!

The only government funding for Cannington's Canada Day Festival is from the Federal Government's Celebrate Canada Grant Program.  No other Provincial grants are applicable since the event takes place on or celebrates our nation's birthdate.  Past requests for Regional or Municipal funding assistance have been rejected.

The total cost of the Canada Day Festival ranges anywhere from $30,000 to $40,000.  One of the single biggest revenue sources to help fund the event comes from our generous and community-minded sponsors.  Business and organizational sponsors contribute almost one third to the revenues needed for the event to break even.

Every year The Cannington Lions Club uses the professional fireworks specialists from David Whysal International Fireworks to put on the world class fireworks which are "the best in the area".  DWF are world known for their expertise and have won many international awards.  We are appreciative to have their assistance each year.

The Cannington Lions Club Canada Day Committee begins organization meetings almost a year prior to the event.  It is one of the most active committees in The Cannington Lions Club.  The Committee welcomes input from individuals and organizations when planning the event.
